Do you accept insurance? Yes. Holly works at Preventive Medical Center of Marin (PMCM) under the direct supervision of Elson Haas MD, who is credentialed with most major insurance plans. She is only able to bill for primary care and medical services. However, Craniosacral is not covered by insurance.

Can I use my FSA or HSA? Yes. HSA/FSA cards can be used at Holly’s Marin office. For San Francisco visits, Holly provides a receipt to allow patients to make their own claims to reimbursement accounts.

My lactation consultant referred me to Holly for craniosacral therapy and tongue tie assessment. Do you accept insurance? Is there an extra fee? How long is the session? What should I expect during the session? Initial visits for babies with feeding concerns are one hour. New patient forms must be completed prior to the visit. Holly will perform a simple intake, detailed physical and oral motor exam including a tongue-tie exam. She will give parents exercises for a home program as well as treat the baby with craniosacral therapy. Craniosacral is not covered by insurance.

Do you see patients in San Francisco? Yes. On Fridays, appointments are available in Pacific Heights in San Francisco by appointment for craniosacral only. Holly can only see medical-concern patients through PMCM in-person or by telehealth.

Can Holly do a house call? House calls are sometimes possible. I reserve house calls for babies under 4 weeks of age.

Can Holly diagnose a tongue tie? Yes. Holly spent 15 years working with babies in her bodywork practice treating all kinds of feeding difficulties. She has trained with the developers of clinically validated tools for diagnosing tongue tie. She can guide families in understanding oral function and create a care plan for families who are struggling with breastfeeding and infant feeding.

What is craniosacral and why is helpful for babies? Craniosacral is a gentle hands-on therapy that helps ease restrictions in the body and create better function. Often small restrictions or tightness can cause a baby to fuss, eat and sleep poorly. Craniosacral also provides ease in oral tissues in a way that can support babies before and after a tongue or lip tie release.

Why is Holly different than other providers for baby bodywork? As a licensed independent practitioner, a family nurse practitioner, she has committed countless hours of training to serve over 1000 babies with care and specialized attention. On top of basic primary and nursing care, she has 3000+ hours of bodywork education and advanced certification in craniosacral therapy from the Upledger Institute. She is a lactation counselor and has studied oromotor therapy, child space, primitive reflex integration, and TummyTime! to provide babies and their families with a thorough assessment, education, and treatment in a safe and compassionate manner.

Do you see adults for bodywork? Yes. Holly has been working with adults for bodywork for over 20years. She has many modalities to help you including basic massage, sports therapy, myofascial release, positional release, strain-counter strain, muscle energy technique, acupressure, visceral manipulation, Thai massage, and osteopathic-based techniques. Holly applies a depth of knowledge to each person based on what the body needs for each treatment.

Can Holly be my primary care provider? Yes. Holly treats people age 8 and older for well care and primary care management at the Preventive Medical Center of Marin. As a nurse practitioner with 20+years of bodywork background, expect a thorough physical assessment with an eye for function and commitment to a holistic approach based on diet, exercise, and natural remedies as an initial phase of care. She hopes to partner with patients to prevent illness and find the health within. Holly is comfortable collaborating with and referring to specialists when more intervention is required for more complex, significant health challenges.

What precautions are taken in regard to Covid? Holly wears appropriate PPE including masking per local health requirements. Holly’s offices in San Rafael and San Francisco have a HEPA filter and a door or window to the outside to increase fresh air. Ventilation is our friend in a respiratory pandemic. Holly is fully vaccinated and boosted. Please reschedule if you or anyone in your household is ill. Masking is optional. However, I continue to wear one while working.

How often should I see Holly for craniosacral care? Most human bodies require hands-on therapy at least seasonally. Our bodies need more craniosacral support when we have increased stress, injury, or surgical recovery. Many patients will need ongoing care for acute conditions. Babies needing craniosacral for feeding, digestive, or musculoskeletal concerns ( torticollis and plagiocephaly ) return at least weekly for the first few sessions.

What is required of a new patient at PMCM? In order to secure an appointment, a $100 deposit is required at the time of booking. This fee can be applied to your fees/copays/craniosacral work.

Can I get a superbill for HSA or MRA reimbursement? Yes, please request a superbill at check out at PMCM. PMCM accepts FSA cards for payment. Visits in SF will be automatically furnished with a receipt with a CPT code 97124, no diagnosis or ICD-10 code. I cannot accept cards at my San Francisco office. You will have to take a receipt and make the claims yourself. Craniosacral is not covered by usual health insurance. While insurance company CEO’s make millions, insurance companies are here to say no. Consider craniosacral an investment in your health, in your child’s health. HSA’s a great pretax way to manage these kinds of expenses.
